We have filled all of our GA openings for 2008-9 but
usually anticipate having six academic year graduate
assistantship positions over a two year period; 10 and 12 month contracts may
be available. Our on-campus assistantships are with varsity sports:
men & women’s swimming & diving; women’s soccer; baseball; men's
basketball, women's rowing; and men and women’s gymnastics. All
positions have direct mentor staff to help to provide guidance and
nurture independence. A stipend, out-of-state tuition waiver,
tuition scholarships, state licensure fees, and health benefits make
these positions an excellent financial situation. In addition to these
benefits, graduate students will work alongside experienced clinicians
and within a coordinated sports medicine system of education, research,
and service associated with the University Hospitals & Clinics along
with local CEU opportunities.
Academic Programs on campus are varied and provide
both breadth and depth of experiences for potential athletic training
graduate students. In the department of Integrative Physiology we
offer a non-thesis program specifically designed for athletic trainers.
You can get more information about this program of study by linking to
it
here. The Program is listed under Integrative Physiology in
the Graduate College and all of the MS programs in the department are
listed as Exercise Science for application purposes. Other
academic programs on campus that may provide a breadth of background to
clinically trained athletic trainers are in Departments such as Health
and Sports Studies, Leisure Studies, or in other Colleges such as The
College of Public Health and the College of Business. |
