  Pre-Professional Advising
Every Iowa student is assigned an academic advisor.  The pre-professional advisors for athletic training are experienced and knowledgeable professionals who will help you choose courses that are appropriate for your academic background and goals.  They are members of the Academic Advising Center staff and should be helpful to you as you prepare for application.  In addition, the course 27:96, which you should take your first fall semester of registration, will expose you to the athletic training major advisor throughout the semester.  You are required to meet with your academic advisor before registering for your first semester of classes.  That first meeting will be arranged for you by Orientation Services during your orientation program.  From then on, you will review your advising schedule with your assigned pre-professional advisor.

  Major Advising
Once you are accepted as a major in athletic training, you will be assigned to a departmental advisor who specializes in athletic training.  If you have plans to pursue other professional programs following graduation, you are advised to retain your specific pre-professional advisor to help you with your required course selections.  The athletic training advisor will attempt to coordinate other requirements with the sequenced plan for athletic training.
