John G. Streif

John Streif is long time member of the Iowa Athletic Training Staff.  John was originally from Manchester IA, fondly referred to as god's country.  He graduated from Iowa in 1966 with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation.  After graduation he went to the US Military Academy at West Point to serve as an athletic trainer, working with the likes of Bobby Knight.  Following his two years at West Point, he had significant duties with the Detroit Lions Football working with Kent Falb, past Iowa grad and past President of the NATA.  John's duties at Iowa, since 1972 have been primarily with Men's Basketball and Football but also now serves as the Travel Coordinator for the Athletics Department. If there ever was a standout student already from his first exposure to to our program, John was that student, and much the same as he was as a student at Iowa, John still has the freshness, energy, and center compass that he possessed as a student.
